The Texas House Select Committee on Hurricane Ike Devastation has issued its final report.
The report found that the overall Texas response to Hurricane Ike was an improvement from past hurricanes such as Katrina and Rita. However, there were still many shortfalls. Clearing up lines of communication between federal, state, and local officials, designating evacuation staging areas and the inability to provide quick temporary emergency housing proved problematic for emergency management.
In addition, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has released its own report on the impact of Hurricane Ike. The report will be revised as more information becomes known.
