Crmkunreuther Howard Kunreuther, co-director of the Risk Management and Decision Processes Center and a professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, is a co-editor of “On Risk and Disaster: Lessons from Hurricane Katrina”. The show will start off with Kunreuther discussing insurance companies’ thoughts of implementing a higher price on policies for people who build homes in hurricane prone areas of the country.

Johnvitko John Vitko is the division head of the Science and Technology Directorate of the Department of Homeland Security and will be discussing what is being done by DHS to protect against biological and chemical attacks.

Greg Kiser is the security reporter for Computer World and will discuss how hackers have upgraded to selling “hacker kits” which contain coding that can help others gain access to personal computers.

Amotzbrandes_2 Amotz Brandes is the managing partner of Chameleon Associates, a security consulting and training company based in Los Angeles, CA. Brandez will be talking about airports technology improvements and their ability to use predictive profiling and other security methods to screen passengers.

Joe Riojas, vice president for strategic initiatives at The University of Texas at El Paso , will discuss the Border Security Conference in El Paso, Texas. 

6. Perspectives
Chris Meyer is the assistant vice president for Safety and Security at Texas A&M University in College Station. Meyer has a graduate degree from Texas A&M in nuclear engineering and nuclear safety and has been on staff since 1986.

Sept. 18: Terrorism charges brought on father and son, maintaining safe chemicals, campus safety, ending phishing scams, IAEM president shares his thoughts, and agroterrorism in America

    Laylasidesmall Layla Bohm is the assistant city editor at the Lodi News Sentinel (Calif.) She will discuss the trial of a Pakistani father and son in Lodi based on evidence that the son went to a terrorist training camp.

    2. Inside the Beltway

    Matthew Harwood is an editorial fellow of The Washington Monthly. Harwood will talk about plans to substitute safer chemicals such as liquid beach for dangerous ones such as Chlorine in processing and manufacturing plants around the nation.

    3. Outside the Beltway, Take One 

    JamesfoxParents are choosing colleges for their kids based on how safe they are. James Fox, a professor in the College of Criminal Justice at Northeastern University, will ask the question, “Should we be worried about the safety of our campuses?”.

    4. Outside the Beltway, Take Two

    Glwpub In the second interview with Gary Warner, director of research in computer forensics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and member of the Birmingham Chapter of Infragard, Warner discusses the risks of phishing scams online. Specifically, he will address lottery and greeting card scams and provide information on how everyday users can avoid these scams.

    5. Wild Card

    Mike Selves, president of the International Association of Emergency Managers, will discuss changes in  the relationship between the federal government and emergency managers. He also talks about the new National Response Framework, which is proposed to replace the National Response, and provides an alternative view from IAEM, which represents responders and emergency managers nationwide.

    6. Perspectives
    Author Jason Moats will talk about his book Agroterrorism: A Guide for First Responders ,which proposes that the most unprepared communities for terrorism incidents are rural areas providing food and crops. Moats is part of TEEX and a leader in the first responder field.

Steve_abbot Admiral Steve Abbott is the president of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. We will continue talks with guests about where they were on September 11th. In specific, Abbott discusses his role on the day of 9/11 and how the Homeland Security sector was structured immediately following that day.

Continuing talks about 9/11 and its implications, Vince and Lydia Henry, the co-founders of the Homeland Security Management Institute at Long Island University will be joining us on why they felt it necessary to form this institute.

4. Perspectives

Mike_prodromides Mike Prodromides, a New York City firefighter, reveals a side of humanity we don't see everyday. Prodromides was at home during 9/11 and will talk about what drove him to immediately go out and help his brothers at Ground Zero for nearly a weeks time.

Mimi Hall and Shane Harris continue their discussion on the post-9/11 world in this segment.

3. News Media, Take Two 

Mary Beth Sheridan of the Washington Post will discuss the burden of maintaining security devices. She will detail some of the problems that go along with getting these devices, such as the cost of upkeep and maintenance.

4. Outside the Beltway.

Alan Capps is the principal analyst with Homeland Security Institute which is a part of ANSER.  He discuss his role as the editor of the Journal for Homeland Security and Homeland Security Newsletter.

5. Wild Card

Mtmburton2 Fred Burton is the vice president for counter-terrorism and corporate security at Stratfor. Burton will discuss a Mexico security memo that deals with the violence around the Mexico-U.S. border. The memo deals with violence associated with warring militias, such as beheadings and murders of journalists and government officials.

6. Perspectives

Dave and Randy will be wrapping up the show with some final thoughts.
